With the recent announcements at E3, I couldn’t help but feel

obliged to create an awesome post dedicated to Nintendo

characters. Without a doubt, Nintendo destroyed all expectations at

E3 and gave us more than we could ever hope for.

With sequels to the Breath of the wild, Daemon X Machina, and a

new no more heroes (my personal favorite), you cant help but get

excited. Nintendo did right by us so its only right that we pay

tribute by cosplaying as some of their awesome characters. So with

that idea in mind, lets check out my top 10 Nintendo characters

to cosplay as.

 Travis Touchdown

I cannot stress enough how much I love this game and how

underrated I believe this Nintendo character is. In a nutshell,

Travis Touchdown is a broke otaku that wins a beam

sword/lightsaber in an auction. He kills a guy named Helter Skelter

and earns the 11th ranking position on the assassins association

national boards.

Throughout the game, he makes some completely ridiculous

statements while killing people such as “strawberry on the

shortcake and its called fashionable late fuckface”. This game has

been out for a while and with Nintendo’s announcement of a third

game, I am extremely excited to see the series revived.

Cosplaying as Travis Touchdown is relatively easy. You will need

his Jacket for starters. Next you can purchase some ripped jeans,

Bizarre Jelly Tshirt, Sunglasses, and his red sweatbands to

further accent the cosplay. Last but not least we have Travises belt,

gloves, utility pouch and sneakers. O yea I almost forget the

most important aspect, THE LIGHT SABER!!! Unfortunately, I was

unable to find his exact Blood Berry katana but here is an video on

how you can create one yourself.

Shinobu

Another awesome character from no more heroes, we have

Shinobu. With Nintendo’s announcement of the games return I’m

looking forward to seeing this character return to the cosplay

scene. Similar to Travis Touchdown she is an assassin but she

holds a grudge and actually hates Travis. Why you ask because she

believes he killed her father. I won’t give away any spoilers but

long story short Travis has nothing to do with her father’s death.

But, since her fathers killer wielded a similar beam sword she

assumes it must be him. I have not had the pleasure of

photographing a Shinobu at a convention but after this post that

will change right? She is my second favorite character in the series

and I don’t want, but need to see her cosplayed. You can pick up

this cosplay for $93 on ebay. Next, grab yourself a white wig and

model it after the character. Last, grab yourself a katana and you’re

ready to go.

Isabelle

Nintendo definitely dropped the bomb with Animal Crossing New

Horizon. I think every Nintendo fan loved this game. It’s an open

world game in which you do a ton of nothing it seems. Its not

traditional in the sense of having assigned tasks and quests to

complete. You kind of make the story as you go along. I’m sure New

Horizon will be the exact same. Of the characters in the game, one

of the most notable is Isabelle.

Isabelle is the mayor of the town and assists the player throughout

the game. She has become even more iconic with her introduction

into the smash brothers series. She is a dog like creature that is

always upbeat and cheerful. Her cosplay is rather simple to create

and looks so awesome. The most difficult aspect of the cosplay may

be the wig which you will have to style. Other than that add in a

bit of makeup and you’re good to go.

Link Breath Of The Wild

Without a doubt, one of the largest announcements was the

Breathe of the Wild sequel. The original Zelda game was released

in 1986 and has been a staple of Nintendo’s video game lineup ever

since. Characters from the game are so recognizable I could make

a list of them alone. It’s hard to believe its been 2 years since the

release of Breath of the Wild and I’m sure fans are ecstatic about

getting a new one. To honor it, we need to do some Breathe of the

Wild cosplaying.

As one of the most iconic Nintendo characters, Link has been

portrayed in several basic outfits. His Breathe of the Wild outfit is

no different. It differs from his classic green attire but is still

similar enough to know its Link. Accompanying his outfit, you have

to grab a few weapons from his vast arsenal. His sword and shield

are most iconic and should definitely be purchased along with the

cosplay. For added appeal add in his sheikah slate.

Mipha

Another Nintendo character in the Zelda universe, we have Mipha.

She is a red skinned and member of the Zora Race. Like Zelda, she

is a princess and is extremely kind to nearly everyone. She ends up

falling in love with Link and like all great wives, has a suite of

armor ready called Zora armor that she wanted to present to him.

Unfortunately, she never gets to present the armor to link for well,

lets just say reasons. Don’t want to spoil anything for you.

This is another character I have never seen cosplayed at an event

and would be more than ecstatic to photograph at my next con. You

snag this awesome cosplay for around $170 dollar and im sure

you wont regret it. All Zelda fans will appreciate this unique

character and will certainly earn you a spot on the Nintendo

characters cosplay hall of fame.

Ganondorf

Ok this is my last Zelda cosplay link I swear. But in my defense, I

HAD to include this character. Not only is he my favorite character

in the Zelda series but he is also my favorite smash brothers

characters. People like to call him mean and evil but I prefer

misunderstood. Ganondorf  is the great king of evil and is the

antagonist in a lot of the Zelda games. He is gifted with very

powerful magic and of course, seeks the Triforce to grant his wish

of conquering the world.

The cosplay that’s offered for this character is not as menacing as I

would like but that can be changed with a bit of addition. Also, if

you do not like his classic outfit you can grab his wind waker

alternative. This costume is a bit more flowing and would look

great with some cell shaded makeup effects. Grab either one to pay

tribute to Nintendo and be recognized as one of the greatest

Nintendo character villains ever created.

Little Mac

To my dismay, this character’s game did not get any updates or

revamps but that’s ok because he is still in super smash brothers

which is good enough for me for now. Grant it, he may be one of

the worst characters in the game but he’s still there. Little Mac was

introduced into the Nintendo universe in the video game Punch

out in 1987. Surprising fact, he is the shortest and youngest boxer

in the entire series. I guess that adds to the game’s underdog

coming out on top ideology.

Cosplaying as little mac is going to take a bit of assembly as no

shops currently offer a complete outfit. To cosplay as the character,

you will need a pair of green boxing gloves, Black Tank top, and

green gym shorts. Get a seamstress to add the orange stripe and

white lines to the shorts to create a more accurate cosplay. Last but

not least, you’re going to need some boxing shoes. Throw all of

these together in an afternoon and you have just created one

legendary Nintendo cosplay.

Hero (Dragon Quest)

Nintendo just announced the last two characters to its smash

brothers roster. I have to admit I definitely didn’t expect the ones

they choose but they’re not so bad. Of the two, I want to focus on

Hero from Dragon Quest. No his name is not Hero, its just the

name of your character as you adventure throughout the series.

The game’s theme revolves around a stereotypical hero saving the

world from evil.

This evil usually comes in the form of some kind of dragonoid

creature or demon. I have not beat this game personally but it

remains one of the top selling games in Japan so that means it must

have something right. I am very interested to see how this

Nintendo Character plays in smash brothers as I believe you will be

switching through all three heroes (Hero 1, Hero 2, Hero 3). Only

the future will tell.

Zero Suit Samus

Another absolute legend in the Nintendo Character database is

Samus. Metroid was released in 1986 and Samus has been popular

ever since. Originally, we always saw her in her armored suite

tearing through levels hunting ridley. I would say her zero suit

version is a bit of a newer introduction.  She, like Hero, Little Mac

and a vast array of other characters have also made it into the

smash brothers series. Her backstory is one of a bounty hunter

and an orphan. I believe nearly everyone has played some form of

Metroid so not much backstory is needed.

Aside from her Zero Suit Version, you can also opt to create her

Armored version. I was unable to find any completed suits but

HERE is an awesome tutorial on how you can create it if you would

like. I really want to see someone curl up into her ball form and

roll around at conventions. That would definitely be a site to

behold.

Pearl (Splatoon)

Closing out our list we have a relatively unknown character and

likely not super popular. This is because inkling usually steals all

of the spotlights but let’s give the underdog some attention. Pearl

is a member of the band Off The Hook in the game. She speaks in

slang and is extremely blunt. Rapping is a staple of this character

so feel free to go around spitting hot fire as you cosplay as this

character. Another awesome aspect of this cosplay is you get to

wear fangs.

If these images plus this description aren’t putting you onto this

character than nothing will. This Cosplay costume includes

everything you need except for the fangs and boots. These can be

purchased for relatively cheap and will greatly help with your

character recognition. Maybe you can even meet up with inkling

cosplayers for a combined shoot. I know I would be down for this.

Few, that list was a bit extensive but I hope you enjoyed it. I tried to

give a few options that cater to everyone’s tastes. If you have a

character you would like added to the list feel free to leave a

message in the comment section below. Also, if your interested in

other cosplay ideas feel free to click HERE. Well, that’s it for today’s

post. I hope you enjoyed this look at my top 10 Nintendo Characters

to cosplay as. Keep cosplaying and I look forward to seeing you at

the next con. Until then, stay BOUNDLESS!!!
