2020 has already been one hell of a rollercoaster. I mean everything from WWIII to plagues have threatened to end humanity. If you’re a news addict then I can even imagine what all your going through but I do have a solution to get your mind off of things for a bit. Let’s take a few minutes and escape reality for a bit while we check out some new cosplay ideas that are sure to be popular in 2020. There are several new shows making a comeback along with brand new series making their debut. It’s only a matter of time until conventions are reinstated so take this time and get those cosplays ready because con season 2020 shall not be canceled.
First up we have one of my personal favorites, The Promised Neverland Season 2. There are countless numbers of anime out there but none that draw you in as much as this series. I have only had the pleasure of photographing one Promised Neverland group and it was at momocon. At this time I had never seen the series but watched it right after the convention. Let me tell you that the continuation of the series in 2020 means you can be sure Emma, Ray, and Norman will be back with a vengeance.
Another series making its return is That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime. The first season was outstanding and I really want to know the fate of several of the characters. I mean what happens to Veldora and will Rimuru remain in his human form for all of season 2. There are so many questions that need answering but I’m rather sure that tons of cosplayers will be busting out there best Slime reincarnation Cosplays.
The anime world is constantly introducing new swordsmen. Even the coronavirus cant stop this phenomenon from occurring. A truly amazing swordsman that may catch your eye for cosplay is Licht Bacht. The series focuses on a player’s numbers which could refer to anything. Licht has a very low number count and as such draws tons of wanted and unwanted attention. His attire is very simple yet badass and should definitely be considered a contender for 2020 swordsmen cosplay.
Darwins Game represents a concept that is seeming to become more and more popular. Video games with real-world consequences. We have seen this idea visited in Sword Art Online and .HACK Sign for the OG crowd. Either way, I am very curious as to what this series will offer. The cover art looks really interesting with Sudou Kaname sporting his suite and pistol. I think this will be a rather simple cosplay to pull of but it offers lots of room for customization. I mean most of us own a suite right?
Sigh, another series I have yet to watch but have only heard about through friends, In/Spectre looks very promising. Not only in terms of cosplayable characters, but also as a series that will draw viewers in. The characters Kotoko Iwanaga and Kurou Sakuragawa and working together to solve spiritual mysteries but obviously the two are bound to become romantically involved. This looks to be the beginning of a new, very awesome couples cosplay idea.
Ok, ill admit when I first heard about this series I got excited and thought they were doing some kind of Naruto spin-off that only focused on the Uzumaki Clan. We all know Boruta wasn’t exactly what we’re looking for in a predecessor. Anyways, if you had this thought too you would be completely wrong. The series is actually about individuals that are obsessed with spiral patterns. I get scared easily so I definitely will not be watching this but for the rest of you, have at it. Kurozu-Cho may just be right up your cosplay alley.
Cloud Strife has always been a popular character ever since his debut in 1997. LOL, many of the cosplayers cosplaying as him were not even born yet. Anyways, this character really needs no introduction. With the FFVII Remake being released this year, I’m sure we will see an increase in the number of buster swords being flaunted at various conventions. Im not complaining as this has always been one of my favorite characters and cosplay weapons.
There have been so many Fates that I can’t possibly keep up but if this series is for you 2020 will not disappoint. Fate/Grand order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia is set to continue into 2020. I have taken pictures of several cosplayers posing as various characters from each series. But, I hope 2020 is the year I will finally get Gilgamesh on camera and video. He is one of the strongest characters in the series and has several amazing cosplay outfits to choose from.
Probably the most anticipated series on the list, Kimetsu No Yaiba: Infinity Train is without a doubt going to re-spark the demon slayer flame in each of us. Particularly, we will be getting a look at the fire Hashira along with the usual cast. I have not read the manga so I’m not sure what all this character will be bringing to the big screen, but god knows I can’t wait. It seems like I watched Demon Slayer forever ago but the influx of Kyojuro Rengoku cosplays will likely overtake Nezukos this year.
Last but not least we have Goblin Slayer: Goblin Crown. Another EXTREMELY popular series that graced the anime world, Goblin crown is an appetizer for us eagerly awaiting season 2. The Goblin Slayer Armor is definitely a project that you need to begin working on now if you want it completed by the time this virus has run its course. Tons of people were rocking this armor set at momocon and I cant wait to see any upgrades they make for 2020.
There are soo many characters to cosplay as for 2020 and this list represents a small sliver of characters you can choose from. If you will be cosplaying as any of them, feel free to drop a comment below as I would love to see it and film it. Who knows, we may just be heading to the same convention and should definitely schedule a meetup time. If you found this article interesting feel free to check out others HERE.
