Some Thoughts on Dr. Stone!

Dr Stone. Shishio

Ok, so I had to sit back and think a bit after the most recent episode of Dr. Stone. For anyone who does not watch the series, I will give you a quick synopsis. Humanity was petrified by a bright green light thousands of years ago and has resorted to a primal state. Nature has flourished in man’s absence and civilization has all but vanished. It is in this world that the petrified humans slowly begin to reanimate. The timing at which people reanimate varies and has to do with a lot of factors ranging from brainpower spent wile petrified to natural conditions.

Ishigami Senku is a science prodigy and genius having memorized nearly all of mankind’s scientific feats and exploits. When forced into a difficult situation he revives Tsukasa Shishio. This character and Senku work together until they come across one key difference in mindset with regards to the future of this primal earth. It is here that the two characters have a difference of opinion leading to a rift in there “friendship”. It is this rift that I want to discuss today because in episode 19 they bring up one of the main problems plaguing humanity today. The rift between the rich and the poor.

Senku wants to revive the old world while Shishio wants to build a new one. And you know, at first, I was like we should revive the old world and bring everyone back. But then, shishio had to go and make a great point and now I see senku as the villain and not ShishioShishio basically stated that everything in the old world was corrupt and run by some rich man that staked claimed too many things leaving scraps for the rest of us. He didn’t say this directly but that’s how I interrupted it. He wants to continue in this world where things are not owned by people. From what I can see the community works together to provide for all which is much better than the for mine and my own mentality.

On the other hand, we have SenkuWho seems to want to revive the modern world only to fuel his need for scientific advancements and knowledge. If you ask me, that’s extremely selfish and kind of a dick move. Senku was definitely in the middle if not the wealthy class. I mean for god sake his father was an astronaut. I do not personally know any children of astronauts but I don’t exactly imagine them struggling. He wants to bring back a world in which he was at the top and did not have to struggle. If he revives all of the adults this is exactly what will occur. The earth has had its reset switch pressed and I like what I’m seeing.

I am not sure how the story will progress but so far I’m definitely starting to see Senku as being the villain. Do we really need our laptops, cell phones, and Disney+? Ok, I maybe went a bit too far with the Diseny+ because we definitely need that. But, everything else is definitely a want, not a need. Shishio has realized this and does not want to see the suffering caused by developed nations preying upon smaller nations and populations for the little they have. The barter system they have seems to work just fine and everyone is doing perfectly fine without taxes.

I will admit the one thing we may need to bring back is medicine. The invention of glasses and drugs to prevent suffering and illnesses is a must. So this is what I advise. I’m, not a heartless monster that says kill all the adults because not all of them were evil. Instead, I say you gather all the adult statues and let them revive on their own. This way, there will not be a large amount of them all at once so they will be incapable of relying on one another for strength. Second, you would slowly acclimate them into the newfound society and basically give them a year trial period to see how they cope. If they are showing signs or talking of regressing to prior ways sorry, you gotta get the ax lol.

One can only hope that by the time several of them revive there are far more individuals accustomed to and on the side of ShishioThis, of course, does not guarantee the future of the new world but it’s the only alternative I could think up without killing all of the adults. Killing them all is the only full-proof plan but man it just doesn’t sit well with me. I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night knowing I was constantly murdering individuals even if they were in a petrified form. Now I know you might be thinking it’s crazy to agree with Shishio, but think about it.

So far we have not seen any poor individuals, ostracizing or class developments. This is as close to a utopian society as your going to get. No one seems to care about race “despite the fact that the anime shows no Black, Mexican, Indian or any other minorities for that matter” but I know they have to be out there. They’re just behind the scenes and not making it to all of the important shots. At least that’s what I will tell myself. Most importantly there does not seem to be a system of debt and if you want to learn or know something you simply go learn it.

You do not have to take all those unnecessary classes to become say a blacksmith. Imagine how much faster we would have our degrees and how much less debt we would be in if we simply went to school and learned what we wanted to do and that’s it. You want to be an engineer, then only engineering classes. How about a doctor? Boom straight to med school. Because let’s face it, I don’t think many of us have ever used the Pythagorean theorem or was required to quote the exact date time and occurrence of past historical events. Yea Shishios world is the type of world I want to live in.

O I did forget that we may have to let Senku re-invent toilets, deodorant and showers because all though there not a necessity they are nice. Of course, you can take cold showers or even let water warm in the sun before using it but this is all a large inconvenience. So yea, we are going to allow some scientific advancements to return just not all. Know that I think about it, we can have scientific advancements just no adults. If Senku and Shishio can come to an agreement about not reviving adults then we can end this series today. But since I like it so much let’s drag this realization out for at least 2 more seasons lol.

Thanks so much for checking out my thoughts on Dr. Stone. So far I love this series and cant wait to see how the story develops. Side note the nerd in me also loves the scientific formulas they drop with regards to how there going to create things. This series is definitely right up my alley. As always, if you enjoyed this post feel free to leave a message below. I would love to hear what you think of Senku and Shishios rivalry.
