Ok, so throughout the cosplay and anime world there have been some absolutely ridiculous inventions. Some simply create weapons of mass destruction while others alter gravity, space and time. In my opinion trying to figure out which one is most powerful is rather ridiculous. I mean every year they create something even more absurd which absolutely destroys the previous versions concept. So with today’s post I want to instead, check out 7 badass cosplay weapons. What makes them badass you ask? Maybe it’s their shape, abilities or damage output. Basically, they have to excel in some category while looking amazing. So with that idea in mind, let’s jump into it.
Scissor Blades
First up we have the Scissor Blades. This weapon has become iconic as it was the weapon wielded by Ryuko Matoi. Originally, she only owned half of the blade. But we all saw how ridiculous of a weapon the Scissor Blades became when combined with their other half. The weapon itself is constructed from hardened life fibers. The blade comes in two colors with each piece having different properties. First up, the red blade. It is larger than its purple counterpart and can absorb life fibers while changing its shape.
The purple blade, is shorter but has the ability to morph into a curved form. When these to amazing blades combine they form the Rending Scissor blades. As a combined force, they are capable of not only destroying life fibers but also preventing any forms of regeneration. Throughout the course of kill la kill, we saw several weapons with various abilities. Although it wasn’t the flashiest weapon in the series, it was certainly one of the most deadly.
Dominator (Psycho Pass)
Ok let me first say I’m shocked at how many people didn’t like or haven’t seen this series. I mean the entire concept was just amazing. I feel as though it predicts a future that humanity is moving towards. Especially with the increasing amount of police violence on civilians. Once the system is automated, you can hopefully remove the human aspect thus afforing everyone equal treatment under the law. Anyways, back to the dominator.
This weapon is so amazing because of its various abilities related to subduing a foe. Its always limited in its use to a few users making it impossible for criminals to take advantage of its abilities. It’s capable of four shooting modes. Paralyzing non lethal, self exploding, lethal, and decomposer lethal. It does take a hit on the badass scale since you can’t use it whenever you choose. But, this is what also makes it so perfect as you cannot shoot targets accidentally or truly cause collateral damage. I really want one of these. Once again screw hoverboards, dominators 2020.
Zanpakuto (Bleach)
This weapon is amazing because of the sheer quantity along with the variability in their forms. Each situation causes for a different strategy and as such, there’s a Zanpakuto to fit each one. If you’re weapon does not perfectly counter your opponents abilities, then you can simply power it up to a point that overcomes their defenses. There were so many episodes where a character was on the brink of defeat and they decided they had enough and just powered up.
Four of the most notable Zanpakutos were, Ichigos Zangetsu, senbonzakura, Ryujin Jakka and Nozarashi. These weapons were capable of ridiculous feats and almost always resulted in the total annihilation of their opponents. What also made this weapon so deadly was that you never knew what you were going to face. The weapon could literally do anything and even after you thought you had figured out what it did, you could have just been tricked into believing that’s what it did! Yep, best not to face a zanpakuto user.
Death Scythe (Soul Eater)
So we all know that eating souls is not a good thing. Various animes have taught us this and its really just not a great thing to do to your fellow man. I mean come on, what happened to do onto others. Well, death scythes took this ideology and completely discarded it. A Death Scythe is a weapon that has ingested 99 human souls followed by 1 witch soul. Once a weapon has achieved death scythe status, it gains additional magical abilities.
The weapon can now alter its shape and density allowing the user to manifest whichever form is needed. It also allows for greater control of wavelengths. Some notable Death Scythes include Spirit Albarn, Soul Evans and Jinn Galland. This means that 297 human souls had to perish along with 3 witch souls to create these weapons of destruction. I guess we’re just not going to talk about that part though?
Punisher (Trigun)
You know I had to find a way to throw in a classic. This behemoth was wielded by Wolfwood and man was it a sight to behold. Now in comparison to many other weapons on this list it pales in comparison. It has no magical abilities and does not require some type of enchantment to active. It uses good old fashion life taking bullets. But, for its time, it was one of the most badass weapons ever introduced into the anime universe.
This cross-shaped weapon housed two machine guns and get this, a rocket launcher into its compact design. In addition, it also held between 6 to 8 pistols. Aside from the fact that I have no idea how such a ridiculous weapon could be lifted by a mere mortal, it was nothing less than a work of art. Personally, I want this weapon more than any other on the list. Simply because I think it looks awesome, despite being completely impractical.
Crescent Rose (RWBY)
Not the most amazing weapon in the series but possibly the most iconic. Also notable is that scythes are my favorite weapon type so of course it had to make the list. Second to scythes are sniper rifles. So a combination of the two was, of course, the most amazing weapon invention since Wolfwoods Punisher. This weapon is capable of a third mode which is its transport mode. Although not as impressive as the other two its extremely practical. Imagine walking everywhere with a massive red and black scythe.
Your bound to draw a bit of unwanted attention. If these three modes weren’t enough, you can infuse it with a bit of dust ammunition. Crescent rose can use, gravity, fire and ice dust. Each ammunition type obviously has different effects ranging from spewing flames to increase gun recoil propelling the user even further. I have seen this weapon at several conventions and each time I’m amazed. I’m awaiting the day that someone makes a transformable one!
Death Note
Last but not least we have possibly the most deadly weapon on the list. Though technically it’s not a weapon. Its nothing more than a notebook with 9 iconic letters written on it (D-E-A-T-H-N-O-T-E). This item does not require line of sight nor proximity to its target. The only stipulation to its use is that you must know the targets name. To make matters worse, you can even detail the manner in which the person will die.
You can grant your target a swift or an elaborate agonizing death. Imagine having such powers at one’s fingertips. Any situation could instantly be solved by dispatching the target causing the commotion. Combine this ability with Shinigami eyes and you are capable of killing by literally looking at someone. Well looking at them and of course, writing their newly discovered name into the death note! There is basically no defense against this weapon. Hmm, I wonder what would happen if you changed your name?
As you can see anime weapons are nothing to fool with. Hopefully, no one will ever figure out how to create these monstrosities as the world would nearly instantly be at that individual or countries mercy. Thanks so much for checking out my post.
