Its finally 2020 meaning its time to breathe some fresh air into some old series. 2019 brought us so many amazing series and its great to see several of them returning in 2020. This means that some of our favorite characters will be receiving wardrobe upgrades along with new companions and weapons. We will also see a slew of new characters introduced into several common series. Naturally, this allows for more cosplays to be created along with updates to some outfits that have withstood the test of time. Today I want to look at a few animes that have confirmed a second season and maybe some that are still on the fence. So buckle in and let’s check out some awesome animes that are entering 2020 with a vengeance.
First up we have one of the best animes in my opinion of 2019. The Promised Neverland left us on a cliff hanger with (Spoiler Alert) the children having just escaped captivity. We were introduced to some amazing children such as Emma, Norman and Ray. There struggle to simply survive was one that drew all of the viewers in and made you pray they made it out alive. You couldn’t help but fall in love with these characters along with several of the other children in the anime. The Promised Neverland was such a unique series and was definitely a nice break from my regular stereotypical action or comedy series. I cant wait to see what season 2 has in store and hope its just as good as season 1.
Undeniably one of the greatest animes in the 2019 lineup, Rising of the Shield Hero brought an amazing story to us along with some unique characters. Specifically, Naofumi and Raphtalia have entered our hearts and are commonly seen at several conventions across the world. I have had the pleasure of photographing several with @battyneko and @glitchedvisualmedia being some of the most recent. This series combined relatable elements such as being betrayed and falling in love with overpowered weapons which I’m sure we all enjoy. Season 1 was absolutely ridiculous and I can’t imagine the characters and new content season 2 will bring.
That Time I was Reincarnated as a Slime
This series started off in a very peculiar manner with a man being murdered in broad daylight. But man did it turn into so much more. Satoru Mikami was instantly reborn as Rimuru Tempest. But in doing so he lost all elements of his human side. Instead, he was reincarnated as a slime with some extremely unique abilities. I won’t ruin them all for you but trust me you are going to want to get caught up on this series before season 2 comes out. I had the pleasure of photographing some amazing cosplayers that choose characters from this series with @animistress93 being the most recent. This should give you an idea of some of the amazing characters you will meet in this series. I look forward to seeing several more in 2020.
Another very unique series in both concept and scientific fact. I say this because the series uses actual scientific equations throughout each episode. They actually gave the formula for gunpowder in one of there episodes. After looking into it, it was, in fact, the real recipe. Other advanced concepts are also introduced in the series such as brain vs brawn and corruption. Side note, before you go judging Tsukasa Shishio, you may want to read THIS POST I made about the series. They portray him as such an evil guy but you will see that he low key begins to make sense by the middle of the series. I wonder what craziness these two will engage in, in season 2.
I have to say that when this series first aired I was extremely excited. I loved everything about it and was eager for season 2. But honestly, I have kind of lost interest as its progressed. Season 1 left me aww struck as it was mysterious and action-packed. I feel the later season became a lot more political. Don’t get me wrong, there were still lots of amazing episodes and actions scenes especially the episode with Levi vs the Beast Titan. I can’t put my finger on it but something is just missing now. I really hope the final season will bring it all together and reveal whatever is in Erin Yeager’s basement. Whatever it is, it better be Jaw-dropping.
Finally, our favorite Volleyball anime is making a return. We will get to see more of Hinata Shouyou and his passion for volleyball. This is a great series that shows how one has to overcome the odds with hard work and dedication. See, Hinata Shouyou is shorter than is fellow athletes and as such has to put in twice the effort to follow in the footsteps of his idle “Little Giant”. Even then, it does not stop him from suffering a crushing defeat in his first official match. It’s hard to believe that this series has been around since 2012 and I look forward to whatever 2020 brings to Haikyuu.
Last but not least we have My Teen Romantic Comedy. Also known as Oregairu, this series will be entering its 3rd season in 2020. This is not my typical anime but I have heard some great things about this series. Hachiman Hikigaya is a high school student that has strong opinions on the way others should behave and act. The series is good for depicting a wide range of social settings that teens face in high school followed by the thought processes they have. I guess since high school was a while ago for me I have trouble getting into this series but that doesn’t mean you won’t fall in love. Definetely check it out before the new season is released as you just may be surprised.
2020 has some amazing things in store for us and I can’t wait to fully immerse myself in each series. I’m sure there will be several wasted weekends spent staring at the computer screen. Maybe I will upgrade to a Projector in honor of some of these new animes? What do you guys think? Anyways, thank you all so much for checking out my post as I greatly appreciate your support.
