Anime Weekend Atlanta was a few weeks ago but since I just finished all of my pictures, I am still riding the high. Not only did I get to see old friends, but I also got to see a lot of amazing cosplays. I’ll admit that there were a ton of characters I did not recognize so I’m sorry if I called your cosplay by the wrong name. Now that we got the apologies out of the way, I want to just mention a few of the amazing cosplayers I saw. There were so many this year and I was only able to capture a few. It seems as soon as I started taking pictures of one cosplayer another awesome cosplayer would walk by.
Never the less I took as many pictures as I could and had some awesome shoots with good friends. If you would like to see some images from one of my favorite shoots with @shaucatcosplay click HERE. And without further ado lets check out some of the awesome cosplayers and costumes from Anime Weekend Atlanta 2019. Side note I’m not going to include the cosplayers I did shoots with as they were in their own awesome category, just kidding, but seriously.
Erza Scarlet
First up we have @Shinigamimeg_cosplay cosplaying as Erza Scarlet from fairy tail. This character has so many armors that I cannot even begin to count. She chose to cosplay as the heavenly wheel armor set from the series. Some of the most notable features from this armor set are that they allow Erza Scarlet to fly and summon well over 100 swords. @Shinigamimeg_cosplay recreated this armor perfectly as it was absolutely flawless. I loved the massive wings that she built to accompany the armor and have no clue how you even go about making these. Either way, she did an awesome job so check out her work.
If you haven’t played this game then you definitely need to check it out. In my opinion, it was just as good as, if not better than the final fantasy series. I hate to admit that I did not recognize this cosplay as soon as I saw it but as soon as someone else called it, It instantly brought back so many great memories. This amazing cosplay was done by @sandierrzza and basically embodied my childhood. She was also accompanied by Holland_daze and Lycoris_Ousa. They made an awesome group and their cosplays were gorgeous. Thank you so much for representing this awesome series. Side note if you want this game, you should have got it in the past as it’s now well over its original $20 tag.
Zinogre Armor
Ok, one of the most awesome looking armors from Monster hunter is the Zinogre Armor set. This armor sports a beautiful green, yellow, orange and red color scheme. This cosplay was worn by the amazing @piratefoxcosplay. I can’t imagine the hours that went into this outfit as the details were just ridiculous. Then to make the armor even better he paired it with the matching sword. This is the level of cosplay that I would like to eventually get to. Maybe I need to add that to list for 2019, better photography and developing my armor building skills.
Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Moon
Sisters of the Moon is one of the most iconic theme songs ever created. For many of us it was one of our first animes. Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Moon are also one of the most iconic love stories and was my first intro to cosplay romance. Considering all I was watching at the time was Big O, Dragonball Z and Cowboy Bebop. I very vividly remember toonami showing episodes of this series along with other classics like Cowboy Bebop and Trigun. These phenomenal cosplays were worn by @Zucchini_Jones and similar to the Rose from the legend of dragoon, it brought back a ton of memories.
Siegfried from Grand Blue Fantasy
I have never seen this anime but definitely loved the cosplay. I just knew as soon as I saw it, I had to get a picture of it. Turns out, this character was actually Siegfried from Grand Blue Fantasy. I don’t know anything about this series but apparently it is based on a video game. The plot revolves around a captain coming to the rescue of a girl named Lyria and Katalina. In the process of rescuing Lyria and Katalin, the captain receives a mortal wound. This forces Lyria to merge her soul with them in order to bring them back from the brink of death. This cosplay was done by @granbluechase and looked amazing.
Shinobu Kocho
The only Hashira incapable of decapitating a demon, Shinobu Kocho has instead developed a unique poison that destroys demons in a matter of minutes. She sports a gorgeous butterfly looking robe with a bright purple butterfly in her hair. This cosplay was worn by @erin.lynam. Although I am biased since I took the picture, I have to admit that these sets of images are some of my favorites. The bright colors contrasting against the dark background look absolutely amazing. Maybe it’s also because I love the series but nonetheless, the cosplay was gorgeous and I loved it.
Semiramis Fate Stay Night
Last but not least we have Semiramis from fate stay night. This is another series I haven’t fully completed but have been meaning to get back to. Semiramis was of the assassin’s class and did not from my knowledge receive as much attention as saber and archer. This awesome cosplay was worn by @sydneydestella. Everything from the outfit to the makeup and poses was awesome. I would love to do a photoshoot with this character away from the convention as there are lots of locations that I think this character would look phenomenal at.
