The Gardens

So, for this shoot we decided to focus on the Asian

themed garden which contains a gorgeous pond

with a small complimentary waterfall and vibrant

flowers.

This section of the gardens was where we took the

bulk of portrait shots. Before we move onto the

poses and images, lets discuss the equipment a

bit. I shoot with a mid-tier camera, a Nikon D7000.

My lens kit ranges from a Nikon NIKKOR 50mm to

a kit 18-55mm lens. For this shoot I used the

Nikkor 50mm. I still have yet to invest in

the NIKKOR 85mm which is considered the holly

grail of portrait photography but im getting there.

I also upgraded from a Yongnuo YN568EX light

to 3 ORLIT Rovelight 610. Accompanying these

large monolights are 3 Neewer 32inch Softboxes

or 3 Godox Softboxes. I don’t want to turn this into

a gear post so ill leave it there.

Now that we got that out of the way, lets return to

the images. Fortunately for this shoot, I did not

have to direct the model much on poses. She

already had some poses In mind which flowed

very well with the scenery and made my job

much easier. Last but not least we have the attire.

We had several options available for this shoot but

I opted for the white and colorfully printed floral

dress. It contrasted well with the green scenery

and did not draw take away from the beauty of

the gardens. In fact the pink/red flowers actually

complimented some of the flowers in the garden

which was an added bonus.

Well that’s it for todays brief look at Charlotte

hidden portrait locations. If you ever have time

definitely check this location out, im sure you

want be disappointed. To see all the images from

the shoot, check the gallery below. Until next

time, stay BOUNDLESS!!!
