Welcome back everyone to the 2nd episode the 2020 boundless perception podcast. We have an awesome cosplayer on the show for you today who goes by the name of Talalovesyou. She has some amazing cosplays including Lamuerte, Tiana and Kilala from Inuyasha. My personal favorite is her Lamuerte cosplay with Kilala being a close second. We will discuss how she created these cosplays along with several aspects of her cosplay career. As always I can guarantee this is an exciting episode and that you will not be disappointed so make sure you give it a listen. It only gets better as the podcast proceeds so make sure you listen to the entire thing!
She has been cosplaying since 2016 and first started with Garnet from Steven universe. The only relation she had to this character was the hairstyle and that was all she needed to cosplay as this character. This costume debuted at Metrocon which is in Tampa Florida. Like many of us, she chose this convention because it was close. So now fast-forwarding 4 years, she has created several other cosplays with her most recent being Tiana from Disneys princess and the frog.
Originally, there was supposed to be a Disney shoot including several princesses but due to unknown forces at work, mostly traffic, she never made it to the shoot. Nevertheless, she still created and displayed her amazing Tiana cosplay. All of her cosplays are homemade with the help of her mother. I’m sure this gives her tons of confidence and without a doubt is influential in her cosplay career. Talalovesyou first began by sowing and slowly moved on to EVA Foam.
Like many, she used Kamuicosplay tutorials with Symmetra being her first EVA Foam build. Shockingly, she was able to complete this project without problems on the first go which from my understanding is nearly unheard of. This is a testament to her skills and the quality of Kamuicosplay tutorials. Most of her foam comes from either Michaels or Walmart so feel free to hit them up of you need some EVA Foam immediately.
So, of course, all of this EVA Foam had to go somewhere and naturally it went to her Lamuerte cosplay. This cosplay comes from the BOOK OF LIFE movie. I haven’t seen many cosplay as this character so Talalovesyou had to use some basic artwork to create this cosplay. There were not any patterns or rubrics to follow so each piece was made from eyeballing artwork. The most difficult aspect of this cosplay was the headpiece as with several layers of EVA Foam it became very heavy and difficult to balance. Unlike her other cosplays, this one required tons of trial and error but eventually was completed and looked amazing.

This cosplay was created for the masquerade contest at San Diego Comicon. She won a cosplay award for graphic realization with it and it was certainly well deserved. Next up we discuss her Kilala Cosplay. I mention how I see lots of Sesshomarus and Inuyasha cosplays but I have never seen a Kilala. She cosplayed as this character because she didn’t really feel she vibed with any of the main characters. She really wanted to adapt one of the characters to her own style and thus Kilala was born.
We may be blessed to see this character again at momocon so keep your fingers crossed as I will certainly bring you all pictures of this character. We discuss so much more in this episode and you should definitely give it a listen if you are curious about the construction of her Lamuerte and Kilala cosplay. There’s also some information regarding where she purchased her fire fans from and a few other items. I’m sure you will also find a few other helpful tips within the episode that will help you with your next build!
I would like to thank @Talalovesyou so much again for taking the time to speak with us and do this interview. I thoroughly enjoyed speaking with her and can’t wait to meet up at a convention.
