Welcome back to another episode of the Boundless Perception Podcast, we have the 6th episode going down today and of course if features another phenomenal cosplayer who goes by the name of TattedPoodle. She’s a cosplayer originally from the east coast but currently resides on the west coast. She’s going to share a bit of her cosplay knowledge as well as a few insights. Before we dive into things make sure you check her out on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook so you will be able to follow along with some of the outfits we speak about today.
Her name originally comes from the fact that she has tattoos but she’s also in a sorority called Sigma Gamma Rho. The mascot for this sorority is the French toy poodle. This was also around the time that Instagram just began so she mixed the tattoos with an extremely important event in her life and thus Tattedpoodle was born. Many believe her name is in reference to her hair or its actually based on her personality but now you know the true origin story.
TattedPoodle got started with cosplay like many of us with Halloween. She was unable to cosplay in a traditional manner and had to wear Christian/biblical characters. Aside from Halloween, she was officially introduced to the cosplay scene in 2015 when she wore her Green Lantern Cosplay for the first time. After this outfit, she decided she wanted to wear someone that meant a bit more to her and took this idea to Anime Expo. Surprisingly she considers Rock Lee her true first cosplay. A little known fact about TattedPoodle, she’s a die-hard Rock Lee fan.
Cosplaying as your favorite character is great and all but true joy comes from the expression on children’s faces when they see her cosplay. She lives for this! Children only see the character and do not see gender, age or race. This fact became apparent when she went to Twitchcon and cosplayed as Bunny Brawler from Fortnight. This was one of the most heartwarming stories I have ever heard on the podcast so to get the full story, make sure you listen to the podcast. Can’t give everything away with the synopsis.
Another cosplay we touch on is her LifeLine. She once again had another child come up to her and nearly break down in tears as she complimented Tattedpoodles cosplay. Aside from the fact that her LifeLine is phenomenal, shes also carries around a DOC Medical Drone that was custom built and is equally awesome. All of the information regarding its construction and capabilities are mentioned in the episode.
Finally we touched a bit on her follower base. Her followers on Instagram are not all from cosplay. A lot of them stem from her greek life along with travel and dance. Her Facebook following base, on the other hand, is strictly from cosplay followers. She would constantly see what other large cosplayers did and take bits and pieces from there cosplay while putting her own twist on it. For example, she enjoys gender-bending cosplays and making them look casual or trying to make the cosplay extremely accurate. She has become known to her following base for doing this and as a result, has grown exponentially.
I would like to thank TattedPoodle again for taking the time to speak with us. There is so much more to this interview and I thoroughly enjoyed speaking with her. Her next convention is Momocon so if you enjoyed hearing from her make sure you catch her there. She will be cosplaying as Senna from league of legends and you will certainly not want to miss this.
