Galaxycon 2021 Review With Video

What’s going on everyone we are back with another Blog Post and today we are looking at Galaxycon. The convention only ended two days ago at the time of this article but there are so many things I want to say about it. So much happened and I met tons of new and familiar faces. It was really nice to finally be back at a convention since it has been over a year since the last one occurred for me. Anyways I have already released some of the footage from the event and still have a good bit more that I plan to release. But in the meantime, let’s check out a bit of what this convention had in store.

So first things first I want to say that I opted to do video at this convention instead of pictures. There’s no real particular reason other than I’m trying to grow my YouTube Channel and I didn’t feel like lugging around all of my photography equipment. Also, I was not sure of galayxcons policies regarding tripods and softboxes. Rather be safe than sorry right? If you would like to see that video feel free to click above.

Now in terms of the cosplays I was able to capture, they were absolutely amazing! I was able to meet @shinigamimeg_cosplay again which was a wonderful surprise along with her partner @guardianofcosplay. I also was able to see a fellow amazing cosplay photographer who guys by @fablegraph. Going on and on about this would be easy but that’s not what you’re here for, you want to know about the convention. So first up let’s talk about what I actually did at the convention.

Roaming The Convention

I’m personally not the type to hop from room to room and event to event since I’m looking to make videos which makes my experience unique. I personally bounce from one highly populated area to the next looking for awesome cosplays. This was very easy to do as there were tons of cosplayers around strutting their best cosplays. The Dealers room is literally massive and is a whole level beneath the convention, I obviously made my way there during my video filming breaks.

But before I made my way their, I also decided to post up upstairs. This area was also extremely wide and of course led to the main stage in which the cosplay convention and other large events from the convention took place on. A large portion of my cosplay video was filmed here as cosplayers tended to congregate right in front of the escalators since there were chairs and they could eat there. Also upstairs was a large assortment of restaurants adding to the ones in the dealer’s room and outside food trucks. Needless to say, there was no reason you would go hungry or without a drink at this convention.

 The Dealers Room

So I’m sure all of you want to know about the dealer’s room right? Well, it was basically more awesome than you can expect. I’m not exactly sure how many vendors were there but needless to say it was a lot. In particular, have to give @ranelynngraphics.net a shoutout as I love her artwork and always buy something from her shop. The image below is a Samurai Jack metal print I bought from her. I have also bought tons of other prints which I show on my youtube channel. Anyways back to the other vendors in the dealer’s room.

As I said there was tons to see so check out the 360 video below to see more of all the vendors there. I ended up buying two other items from the vendor’s room besides the print from @ranelynngraphics. I purchased a book entitled if you give a bunny a beer, which I got autographed, and a mystery box that I will be unboxing on my channel from Toynk.com. The dealers room is also where they housed all the special guests including William Shatner and Jason Frank. I actually got in trouble for filming here so just in case you plan to shoot in this area next year, DON’T DO IT.

Regrets

As I mentioned earlier I don’t really spend much time in the panels and as a result, I did miss some amazing events. My biggest regret of the entire event was not staying to see the winners of the cosplay contests. I was extremely tired by the time it rolled around and was just ready to head home. I did see that @shinigamimeg_cosplayand @guardianofcosplay won the best group so congratulations to them. Aside from missing the main event I also wish I would have gotten to spend more time with friends. It was so nice seeing everyone again and all of the new faces were a welcomed sight.

I’m shocked at just how many cosplayers are actually from the Raleigh, Durham area. I will certainly be reaching out to them to hopefully get a few shoots in.  Overall I would rate this convention as a strong 8. I only wish more people had been there but given the global pandemic I understand how that’s not exactly possible. Thank you again to everyone that posed in my videos and actually participated in my anime quiz. I look forward to seeing you again next year. So long Galaxycon and until next time, stay BOUNDLESS!!!
